Bostonist spent yesterday listening to the “I have a dream” speech and watching clips of the good doctor fight for civil rights. Today there is a chance to see another modern great mind, only without the marching. Tonight at the First Parish Church in Harvard Square Noam Chomsky will speak. The $7 - $15 entry fee will benefit Mass Global Action and will discuss the negative effects of globalization on Massachusetts. Originally recognized as the founder of modern linguistics he now waxes philosophical on international politics, globalization, human rights and other such subjects. Excellent perspective is in store even if the outlook is not fully shared with the audience.
The presentation should be a good opportunity to hear some of Chomsky’s thoughts on globalization in Massachusetts and bostonist hopes he’ll give us a little bit about the Iraqi upcoming election or perhaps comments on the future of the Israel-Palestine conflict, but maybe we just wait for his next book. Remember that you really do need to search out your Chomsky, he doesn’t make it into the mainstream media much, if at all.
