While Los Angeles is buzzing with Oscar-talk, Boston is buzzing with what elseāthe weather. Besides sports or Dunkin Donuts, Bostonians love to talk about it and after this past week, the snow cannot be denied. After racking up 42.2 inches this month alone, Boston has beat it's own record in 113 years. That means that in 1892, Bostonians were dealing with this snow too..(For all of you not aware, there were no snow plows or school closings on WBZ-4 back then...it would have been a bit more difficult to leave the homestead.)
Boston and 10 Massachusetts counties are still in a "state of emergency" and Gov. Romney is now asking President Bush for $28 million more to fund more snow removal. We hope Dubya will find it in his heart to throw us a few bucks for some sand and plows, especially after hearing about some more snow early next week.
As for where to park your car, unfortunately, you are on your own. But good news for those of you who spent 4 hours digging out your vehicle this week. You can use a "space-saver" (most like to use a random orange cone or a beat-up lawn chair) to hold your spot while you are gone. This is now only allowed for 48 hours after a storm/state of emergency ends. Since we are still in that "state," feel free to throw up a cone.
