Well, we all know about the Big Dig. Lots of constructions, lots of money (14.7 billion dollars to be exact), and lots of complaining. Just when the Mass Turnpike Authority (MTA) was looking at the light at the end of the tunnel, a leak sprung up in their plans, literally. The leak in the I-93 tunnel was only the start to the troubles of the biggest civil project in U.S. history.
Since then, investigators have begun to look into the Central Artery/Tunnel project and is asking the contractors and the MTA for some answers. So far, nothing has been concluded yet, except that now the MTA can't provide them with all the information. Missing e-mails and documents have "disappeared", making Bostonist wonder what really is going on behind the scenes of this project. We have a feeling there will be more cat fights and "missing documents" to come. We'll keep you posted.
On an upnote: The Massachusetts Turnpike Authority did give us Bostonians one reprieve—a tax break. If you use FAST LANE, you can claim part of it on your 2004 taxes. Check out this webpage for further information. Now who said the MTA never gave you anything?
