Yesterday Bostonist was stuck on Mass Ave for a long long time. Traveling through South Bay to Dorchester at 6:30 p.m. didn’t seem like such a bad idea, but apparently everyone in Boston thought the same thing -- it was trouble. Perhaps it was just the fact that we were actually in our car at a time normally called rush-hour, perhaps it is because we never drive that way during normal hours, or maybe we are just so used to taking the T that this gridlock didn’t seem out of the norm. Today, however Bostonist has heard the water cooler talk all over the city and the media about the particularly bad situation. The city blames the gridlock on their pothole crews that were out repairing the creators left by ice, snow and plows after the Blizzard of ’05. Today we get State Police posted at trouble spots. Bostonist has seen this before, yesterday at Boston Medical there was a cruiser sitting with lights flashing and a cop inside doing nothing but watching the gridlock. Maybe it will be different today when the State Police are out to monitor the situation. They do have nicer pants.
