Condoleezza Rice Plays Nice With the French

Freedom_Fries_2005.jpgThe Freedom Fries, Freedom Toast, Freedom Kiss never really seemed to have the same ring. After several years of a passive aggressive hostility between France and the United States it is now time to build bridges. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said at a speech in France yesterday that it was time to “open a new chapter” in our alliance with France. It appears that President Bush has realized that we really can’t go it alone in the world and we need some help from the states with whom we were once allied. Bush as sent Secretary Rice on a worldwide tour to bring his message out to the world. As both Reuters and the Associated Press reported Condi touted the President’s mantra about freedom as a fundamental value.

''Freedom by its very nature must be homegrown," Rice said. ''It cannot be given, and it certainly cannot be imposed." But she added, ''Spreading freedom in the Arab and Muslim worlds is urgent work that cannot be deferred."

Bostonist is glad that we can go back to calling them French Fries at the fairs and carnivals this spring. Do you think they serve French Fries at the Paris Hilton?

In that picture it says "Deep Fried Turkey Legs and Funnell Cakes--with toppings" and lists toppings, do you think I can get chocolate and bavarian creme on my turkey leg, or is it only applicable to the funnell cake?
