One of the hottest tickets in town this weekend is the Big East matchup tomorrow night at the Conte Forum. The #6 Boston College Eagles take on the #9 Syracuse Orange at 6 p.m. Tickets have been sold out for months and the current going rate on craigslist for a pair is $300. (It doesn't help that the Forum only holds around 8,000 fans, while the Carrier Dome holds 33,000 for basketball.) This is going to be a pretty even matchup, with both teams ranked in the top 10 of the AP Poll and both fighting to win the Big East title. BC is 10-1 in the conference (21-1 overall), while Syracuse is 9-3 (22-4 overall). This is the last year that the two teams will meet as conference rivals; BC will be joining the ACC starting July 1, leaving Syracuse behind to fend off UConn and Pitt.
The Eagles have had a great season with 20 straight wins, which came to a hault with a loss to Notre Dame on February 6. Syracuse was able to squeak out a win against the Irishmen the night before the Eagles fell to them. With solid records, great coaches like Al Skinner and Jim Boeheim, and talented players, this is guaranteed to be a close game.
