Extreme Boston Makeover

bosoxpink.jpgNews last week is that the Big Dig was getting closer to completion, albeit a little leaky. The fourth lane will be added to the Zakim Bridge, a new tunnel configuration will be implemented, and the southbound Congress street onramp will be opened. The Rose Kennedy park in the North End will also begin construction as soon as the weather permits.

Transportation and civic projects are one thing, but the makeovers that Bostonist is following are on Channel 5 and Bravo. WCVB, Channel 5, the self-dubbed "Boston channel" are doing their own Extreme Makover: Home Edition. This one is for the Committee to End Elder Homelessness house on Bishop St. in Jamaica Plain and should be complete by Thursday. This community service minded project will revamp the common areas in the first house the CEEH implemented in 1992.

The glamour makeover goes to the Red Sox, and we’re not talking Johnny Damon. Kevin Millar who likes to wear t-shirts and jeans is going to be the subject of a Queer Eye for the Straight Guy makeover. This, just when his hair was almost long enough for a tight mullet. Bostonist thinks that the Fab Five might recommend that Schilling ditch the bloody sock. Along with Millar, they’ll also be renovating a little league park that was torn up by the hurricanes last year. With the makeover craze sweeping the television schedule it is nice to know that there are bits and pieces of a social conscious. Kevin, Bostonist wants to know if you’ll be wearing your new outfit on the Duck Boats this fall?
