Groundhog Countdown: Seventeen Days

groundhog2005-29.jpgAfter a record 43.1 inches of snow in January, Bostonist looked to good ol’ Punxsutawney Phil to give us the groundhog’s take on the season. He called it: winter for six more weeks. On Wednesday, presumably when tonight’s predicted storm is out of our system, we will have only two more weeks of winter before we start seeing the signs of spring. The best signs of spring have actually already begun, spring training with the Red Sox playing ball in Florida. Tonight and tomorrow beware of messy travel and extended commutes. The National Weather Service has issued another winter storm warning for Boston. Predictions are for 4"-8" of snow before it’s over, and it could mix with rain and ice. Bostonist will be watching for delays of service on the MBTA, especially the pesky Green Line trolleys. After years of service one would think they’d come up with a snow plow attachment.

the least the snow could do is accumulate between like 2am and 12pm so some of us can get the damn day off.

you actually mention my favorite part about snow in Boston: the mbta delays. it's not like the snow is a surprise anymore, people. you know it's definitely going to snow every year, yet we still get like hour-long delays and it takes them 3 weeks to clear snow from the silver line lane. god help you, people who ride the silver line. i'm surprised you haven't burned the mbta offices down yet.
