Kenmore Square's denim denisons, Jean Therapy, was reportedly victimized by a shoplifter to the tune of $2,100 this Sunday. The owner's story follows:
"A person came into the store Sunday and stole $2,000 worth of inventory. This person was a white gay man who looked like he could afford to buy himself some very nice things. He came in Saturday and talked to me and came back Sunday and stole from the store (sic)."
Jean Therapy carries some fine apparel and is owned and run by a young Bostonian. So if someone offers to sell you Carpe Denim jeans on the street, be very suspicious and call BPD. Bostonist agrees that ripping off a small business is lame and selfish, hopefully the perpetrator will be apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

That would be larceny rather than robbery. It would have been a robbery if he came in and grabbed clothing from the shopowner. Just walking out with it is merely theft.
A quibble? No. A robbery is a very serious and brazen crime. Much worse than shoplifting.
You'll want to close that blockquote at the end of the, uh, quote to keep from confusing readers (not to mention browsers).

Let's just see here. Two thousand dollars worth of jeans? Even at $150 a pair, that's still a bakers dozen worth of jeans, and that's a bit much to be "shoplifting" from a store. Am I missing something? Did they start selling diamonds in there? And why would any sane individual take jeans from there? The beauty of the place is that the owner, Leah, alters the jeans free of charge. She a jean fitting wonderwoman. Why and how would a gay white man steal 13 pairs of ill fitting designer jeans? Just go to the Gap.
since you can't really click through the link for the owner's story, I have to go by the quote, which is confusing. the owner knew the guy was gay how? ok, i guess they talked. the owner "knows" it was this guy? he stole how many pairs of jeans? this is where it would be nice to read the story so I can poke fun at it in a humourous way that acknowledges the horrors of both shoplifting and $150 jeans.
