Bostonist spent a snowy Valentine's Day in the little yellow heart of Newburyport at a fantastic Mirah show. Afterwards, Bostonist was feeling all loved-up and a little weepy, and some of that was thanks to Newburyport's finest, Tiger Saw. The band is simple--pretty cello, guitar, drums, and it rests on the gentle interplay of Dylan Metrano and Juliet Nelson's singing. It's gorgeous lullaby music that sounds like vintage Low and Ida, and the band can swell to quite a number live, so there's sing alongs and a choir.
Tonight, you can see Tiger Saw play on a great bill at Somerville's P.A.'s Lounge. Presented by Dan Shea's trustworthy Bodies Of Water Arts And Crafts, the show starts at 8 and features Birds and Batteries, Tiger Saw, Barn Burning, and Early Day Miners. Speaking of trust, Early Day Miners are on Secretly Canadian, one of the more reliable indie labels around. They're having quite a run with Jens Lekman, Antony and The Johnsons, and Magnolia Electric Company. They're a name that you can trust.
There's Still Pretty Songs To Be Had
