As Bostonist readers may recall, the First Baptist Church in Jamaica Plain went up in flames on January 18th, on one of those particularly frigid nights we'd rather forget. Pastor Ashlee Wiest-Laird hasn't forgotten. She is leading an effort to rebuild, even at an estimated cost of ten million dollars.
The church suffered a similar fire back in 1975, and rebuild with money from bake sales. But they're trying some different things this time around. First up is a raffle for a pair of tickets for opening day of Red Sox vs. Yankees. A chance a the grandstand box seats will cost you, though; a raffle ticket is going for the steep price of $250. Still, these tickets are valued at $3,000 each, and you'll have the privilege of seeing those new makeovers in person.
