A Missed Connection Gone Right?

mbtat2.jpgThe Boston Globe featured an article today about the phenom known as "Missed Connections" on craigslist's boston edition. Now, Bostonist has been known to check the Missed Connections section daily, for hopes that someone noticed us on the T (not really) and because they are ridiculously funny most of the time. According to this article, Missed Connections has actually made a match. In September 2003, Jared Bibler laid eyes on Elisa Stead at the Kenmore Square stop. After riding the train with her and not approaching her, he took to craigslist in the hopes that she would respond to his post. He used the very unique subject line: "Girl on the Green Line 'D' train 7 pm tonight" and according to the article, described the woman as: "'tall in a cool denim skirt and curvy brown sweater, great hair and intelligent blue eyes,' even noting her grocery bag from Trader Joe's and the tin can she was trying to open."
Stead saw the post and e-mailed him within a day. Ending to the happy story: two years later, Stead is moving to Iceland where Bibler is a software developer.
Of course, the Globe mentions other couples who have "missed" while on Missed Connections. Bostonist wonders: Have any of you ever had a hit on Missed Connections?

No, I never have, though I never know whether or not to check it looking to post or looking to see if someone was looking for me.

I think that whether you go there to post, or to see if someone was looking at you, or just for fun says alot about you as a person. haha

That is a nice story, but I remember stopping visiting criagslist when it seemed like half the posts were commentary on fat people.

It's still pretty good for getting stuff cheap. I got a nice couch and an std from craigslist. Ha!

Yep, it really works, and actually I have heard other stories of people meeting this way, too.
I have the feeling that places like Missed Connections are just the tip of the iceberg for the way the Internet will transform the singles scene. Anyway I am really happy that it worked out.
