Saturday Night's Alright For Rocking

ponies.jpg
There is a ridiculous amount of good rock going on Saturday night. Allston is well-represented by its ever venerable The Plan, which has D.C.'s mighty stoner rock of Dead Meadow and Italian pyschedelic rock duo on Sub Pop (the name is awfully misleading) Jennifer Gentle. The latter received a lot of mentions from the recently wrapped up South By Southwest festival down in Texas.
Across the river, there's a big show at the Middle East downstairs with the "I Predict A Riot" boys of the Kaiser Chiefs, a band who really rock that "people are getting lairy/scary" rhyme in their hit single. Opening are hotly tipped (i.e., they could get bigger, see them now) local bands that deal in dreamy and driving Brit pop influences, The Good North and The Information.
And in Somerville at P.A.'s Lounge, a lovely, quiet show with the fantastic Ponies In The Surf headlining an 8:30 set with Micah Blue Smalldone and Mothers and Fathers. So really, your choices boil down to sludgy, poppy, or pretty. What's it going to be?
