this is really too bad -- what about the people who have to work late? they're really out of luck. If i'm out for beers and i decide to miss the last T, that's my choice. But if i have to work later than the last T, and I'm working somwhere without parking (or don't have a car) -- that can get really, really expensive. Maybe if the MBTA actually had some publicity (*gasp*) for the Night Owl, it would have been more successful? Great idea, poor execution.

I'm about to move from New York to Boston, and this troubles me. Taxis in NYC are CHEEEEEAP! I can get all the way from Penn Station to my apartment in Queens for around $15, whereas an equivalent distance in Boston (let's say South Station to Cambridge) is probably going to run $25-30. And forget about taking a cab to/from Logan. It's $40 when all is said and done.

Boston should do whatever New York does -- sell more licenses, impose price controls, whatever. Ironically New York, with its 24/7/365 trains and a subway stop every four or five blocks, is a far more friendly place for cab riders than Boston!
