The Kennedy Saga Continues

For our favorite family that seems to constantly be in the eye of the storm another unexplained occurance has befallen a member. Joan Kennedy, the ex-wife of Senator Ted Kennedy (D-Mass), was found in the early morning hours on Tuesday lying on a street in Boston with a concussion and a broken shoulder. The media is being polite about the Joan Kennedy incident only citing her past troubles with alcoholism, rather than the standard tag that goes something like "Police are unsure if alcohol was involved in this incident." The AP reports:

Kennedy, 68, was taken to Tufts New England Medical Center around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, said U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I.
"We're indebted to some anonymous pedestrian who found her and picked her up and got her help," Patrick Kennedy told the Boston Herald. "I'm enormously grateful for whoever it is out there who did that. She wouldn't be here in this hospital, recuperating, if that person hadn't called and gotten someone to come."

In a tangential story Patrick Kennedy, who is seeking permanent guardianship of his alcoholic mother, said today that he will not be running for U.S. Senate. For Bostonist that makes referring to Senator Kennedy a little easier than making sure to distinguish between the senior senator from Massachusetts and the junior senator from Rhode Island.
