Cape Traffic Complaints Finally Heeded

In a statement delivered earlier this morning, Mayor
Menino
announced that plans are in the works to build a causeway
from Boston to Cape Cod. The ambitious project would be comprised of
both a highway, elevated approximately five feet above sea level, and
a system of locks
allowing ships to pass over the automotive traffic. These "lock
overpasses" would be the first of their kind, and they alone will cost
an estimated $17 billion. The mayor insists, however, that the project
will pay itself off in two to three years, thanks to increased tourist
revenue and added tolls. "With the success of the Big
Dig
being what it is," Menino said, "it's time for us to take on
new challenges for the betterment of the Commonwealth." Governor
Romney
could not be reached for comment.
