Mayors of Somerville and Cambridge challenge Menino to a duel

Seemingly annoyed with constantly having to live in the shadow of their bigger sibling, Boston, Mayor Joe Curtatone of Somerville and Mayor Mike Sullivan of Cambridge have teamed up to bring Boston Mayor Tom Menino to his knees. Joining forces with Mitch Kates, former Professional Wrestler and current aide to Boston Mayoral-challenger Maura Hennigan, the two north-of-the-Charles Mayor's have issued a strong challenge to Menino.

Taking clues from Kates' recent appearance at Boston University, Curtatone and Sullivan held a press conference yesterday to challenge Menino to a tag-team wrestling match.

"We're gonna take the drool that streams from that teddy bear's mouth and clean our streets with it," Sullivan said. "I've got my tights and feather boa ready."

"We'll see you in the ring, you punk bastard," demanded Curtatone. "For years you've been calling my town Slumerville, so I'll show you just how slummy we can get...on YOUR ass!"

In keeping with the theme of professional wrestling and politics, Curtatone and Sullivan have also enlisted the expertise of former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura.

Menino held his own press conference early this morning to respond to the challenge, but unfortunately no one could understand what he said.

While Mitch Kates is actually advising Maura Hennigan, and he did actually call Menino a "punk ass" and likened him to a "teddy bear with drool", Joe Curtatone and Mike Sullivan have not challenged him to a wrestling match. Hell, Somerville and Cambridge usually can't even get along, so how could they ever team up to take on Boston? Yep, it's April Fools.

Errm, yeah, duel really is how you spell "duel".

Curtatone is pretty tough, don't put it past him. He single-handedly chased the Olive Garden out of the Assembly Square Mall development plans, all because he "didn't care for their menu", no joke.

  • I think you posted more fake news today than real news all week. And the real news was funnier.

Um, that's not how you spell "duel."
