We Knew Something Looked Off!

102503_pru04.jpgIn a statement sent out earlier today,
Childs Bertman
Tseckares, Inc.
, architects of the 111 Huntington
Avenue office tower
, announced that construction workers had left
their structure unfinished. The 554 ft. building, completed in 1992,
was supposed to be capped by an elegant glass dome, but an unexplained
oversight left the framework of the dome mercilessly exposed. Boston Properties, owners
of the skyscraper, failed to notice, and only recently was the matter
brought to the attention of the architects. Said a spokesman for the
firm: "It appears there was a miscommunication at some point during
the construction process, and for that we are deeply sorry. We extend
our apologies to the great city of Boston for the three years of
aesthetic hardship endured as a result of our error."

With holes popping up all over the Big Dig construction it shouldn't surprise any hub dwellers that there are other projects that lack attention to detail. Of course there weren't any plans for a glass dome on 111 Huntington it's just another one of our stories to celebrate Arpil 1st.

I suspect that "completed in 1992" was the April Fool's joke, and the rest of the post was entirely serious.
