Bostonist is itching to get out of work today and go see this year's The Animation Show. We caught it last year and it renewed our faith in all things cartoon. Mike Judge (Beavis and Butthead) and Don Hertzfeldt (Billy's Balloon) created the project to showcase the best of animation world. This year will feature, among others, a new short by Mr. Hertzfeldt (The Meaning of Life), an Academy Award nominee (Guard Dog) and the super-cute looking Ward 13, pictured here. The show is at the Brattle Theatre tonight and tomorrow, and then it moves to the Coolidge Corner Theatre for midnight viewings.
If work is really getting to you today, and you're near the Harvard Square area, we also recommend checking out Pierre Huyghe's project at the Carpenter Center. Huyghe put together an amazing puppet show about the creation of the Carpenter, the only building in America by his fellow Frenchman, Le Corbuiser. A film documenting this show is on a loop in the Sert Gallery until next Sunday. Puppets seem to be all the rage these days, but these puppets are special. They wear puppet Pumas.
