Sox Manager Hospitalized in NYC

terry.jpgWhile the Boston Red Sox are taking the field in the Bronx in a few minutes in Game 3 versus the Yankees, Manager Terry Francona will not be in the dugout with the team this afternoon. He has gone to New York Weill-Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan after feeling some stiffness in his chest. At age 45, Francona has experienced chest pains before, following blood clots from a previous knee operation; he will undergo tests today at the hospital. Those blood clots were only part of his history of health problems, which has included staff infections in both knees, leading to 11 knee operations.
Bench coach Brad Mills will be filling in for Terry at today's game. Bostonist will keep you posted on things with Francona as they develop.
