At the Fever Pitch Red Carpet Premiere

Outside Fenway Park.

If you try and forget for a second that Jimmy Fallon is the lead in this movie and you focus some more on the fact that Fever Pitch is more a love letter from two New England boys to our Red Sox and to the city of Boston, you might just enjoy it. Thankfully, reviews are coming in saying that this is a winner and something that people will enjoy. Bostonist will be at the theater this weekend taking it in and will no doubt have more than enough to say about what's good and what's "retahded".

Wednesday night Bostonist was one in the throng of people at Fenway park craning their neck to try and spot some of the celebrities involved in the making of Fever Pitch. Even with a gradually cooling evening and a not-so-great view from the seats further back the whole affair was worth attending. If anything it was nice to get a good look at the whole park for the first time since the champs won in St. Louis. Add a comeback win against them and their "lights-out closer" (Heh!) earlier on in the day, and you've got yourself a crowd of incredibly happy Red Sox fans.

Fans begin to gather.

Fever Pitch Green Monster.

In case someone took a wrong turn at Albaquerque and mistakenly ended up here, there were plenty of reminders what the heck was going on.

Michelle Demon's back.

A much less revealing photo of Johnny Damon's wife, Michelle. In case you're looking for a, *ahem*, closer look at "Mrs. Damon" you're looking at the wrong website.

Gammo!

Peter Gammons - baseball's true commisioner indeed. Bostonist could listen to this guy talk about baseball for hours.

Tom Caron and Tom Brady.

Tom Caron and Tom Brady. The ladies were going ape-shit for Tom, and we certainly don't mean Caron.

Citgo sign.

And finally, a sight that many a Red Sox fan are looking forward to seeing as they walk down into Kenmore Square after 81 home games.

Even though it's not THAT long since the last World Series, it SEEMS like a long time ago. This movie should have come out much sooner than now.

so i saw fever pitch this weekend, and were it not for the nice shots of boston and the red sox winning the world series, the movie was just ok. the first half hour (maybe even the first half) of the movie is kinda dull. the second half picks up and is funny here and there, but it's not terrific.

the boston stuff is really authentic. some nice shots of salem st and the back bay where the characters live and the esplanade and of course, fenway. it looks like most of it was shot on location. any movie with some nice shots of boston and a reminder that the Boston Red Sox are the 2004 BASEBALL WORLD CHAMPIONS is going to make me pretty happy, though.
