Herald Editors: Come Work For Us

With this week’s news that the Boston Herald would be laying off or buying out 24 of thier editorial staff Bostonist wondered how hard this Globe/Metro merger was really hitting. We would love to hire on some of those poor Herald editors that are getting axed, but we’re not getting paid. Call Bostonist a cheap-o, but don’t call us Chieppo. We aren’t getting deals like Charles D. Chieppo who will now work for $60/hour with a $10,000 max for the Romney administration to promote the State’s environmental agenda. When Jeff Gannon (a.k.a. James Guckert and maybe Johnny Gosch?) made his way into the Whitehouse pressroom became sure that this journalistic integrity thingy was going to take hold. It seems like Mitt and his boys have proven us wrong, paying reporters for reports. Reports are that Chieppo will work two days a week writing to support Romney’s agenda with op-eds and internal documents but also still commit time to working for the Herald where he, um, writes op-ed pieces.eoeaSealSmall.gif
Statements from the Herald and Chieppo have assured readers that he won’t be allowed to publish anything related to the assignment with the State, we just wonder how much he has published in the lead up to getting the contract.
