Oh, The Rock Options

Bostonist fully plans to go out tonight after the new episode of Veronica Mars at 9PM on UPN. After meeting the cast on Friday, naturally, Bostonist is convinced of their beauty and purity and is happy to support them by watching the show.
However, there are plenty of options tonight music-wise, and you could run around the whole city trying to take in the culture. Let's start of the Boston side of the river. Michael Gira (also from legendary avant-garde rock group Swans) and his Angels of Light will be making an appearance at Great Scott backed by Akron/Family. Go on down to the Paradise, and you can get your French-y electronic ambient pop on with M83. If you're looking for something more rootsy, there's Mr. I Was Just In Town In A Sold-Out show last month, M. Ward, at the Middle East downstairs. While it's easy to expect Saddle Creek-linked artists to sell out their shows quickly, it's feasible that M. Ward's show may be easier to get into. Opening for Ward is the Decemberists' former drummer Rachel Blumberg's new band, Norfolk & Western. (If you've heard the driving "The Infanta" off the excellent Picaresque, you know that she is a drum monster which bodes well for this band. They're pretty Americana like a David Gordon Green film soundtrack.) Lastly, there's Of Montreal at TT The Bears. They've got Elephant 6 connections, a Kinks-y sound on the new one, and a Wong Kar-Wai shout out in a song. But if you don't want any music to soothe your savage soul, head over to the Brattle Theatre in Cambridge because there should be some dreamy Wong Kar-Wai films playing before and after Pagila's rambling. Wong Kar-Wai films are good date movies, probably better than Fever Pitch, just so you know.
