Since our publisher introduced advertising on the site, Bostonist has been thinking of something that we can give back to our readers. We were hoping that it would include ice cream, unfortunately that’s really difficult to deliver over a wireless connection. Instead we’ve added an events listing to the website. The listing appears under "Public Calendar" on the lower right hand part of the site. The events are drawn from both the Boston and Cambridge listings of the community events sharing website Upcoming.org. The service allows users to upload information about events they are attending, post comments on them, and find people with similar interests. We’ve added a link to add events at the bottom of the listing that sends you into the Boston page. Navagate around to add events for Cambridge, Somerville or Watertown. Bostonist will continue to watch the outliers in our metro area and if they become a bit more active we’ll tack those on too. Of course this does not mean we’re fully backing Upcoming as an authoritative site, Bostonist is still digging on what Sooz is doing at ExploitBoston.com and the Boston outlet of the IndyMedia.org calendar.
