Ever since Bostonist learned about bird migration we wait for the chirping to start telling us that spring is here. It’s not just the sounds though, we seem to be getting inundated with birds lately. It started with the launch of the Duck Boats earlier this month, and their attempt to break into Cambridge. Tomorrow marks the launch of the Swan Boats in the Public Garden. Bostonist has had a soft spot for the Swan Boats ever since we made way for ducklings. Mayor Menino gets the honor of taking the first ride and he is bringing six grandchildren along for the ride. The mayoral celebration and launch takes place Saturday, April 16 at 10 a.m., we might just wait until July to check it out.
It’s not just the newly nesting birds in the eaves of our apartment building, the pigeons we try and kick at Downtown Crossing, or the Swan Boats. Bostonist has been hearing a lot of good things about the Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill that is playing now at Kendall, Coolidge Corner and Waltham. WBUR even treated us to some bird with David Rothenberg when they tried to explain in five minutes why birds sing.
