Yes, Bostonist knows its only April and we've got a long way to go this baseball season, but things are looking good for the boys so far. With the last two nights bringing victory to the Sox over the Baltimore Orioles, the Red Sox are currently in first place in the AL East. Sure, Baltimore is only one game behind, but the pinstriped boys from the Bronx are three games back and are feeling the pressure...not from the other teams, but their own owner. This past week, George Steinbrenner gave the Yanks a firm talking to in the form of a released statement of course, that they need to shape up or ship out. This isn't the first time Steinbrenner has used the media to talk to his own team, and Bostonist is sure it won't be the last. We wonder what he'll threaten to do when if the Sox whip them at their next meeting on May 27?
In ex-Sox player news, the Boston sportscasters were in a tizzy last night, dropping "Cy Young Award" left and right, when talking about Pedro's recent success over on the Mets. Derek Lowe is also doing great for the Dodgers, but with recently acquired Wells and Clement beating Baltimore this week, Sox fans are breathing a little easier and trusting team management a little more. Oh, and Nomar pulled his groin on Wednesday night's game for the Cubs. Bostonist heard the direct quote of "the muscle tore right off the bone" on one newscast last night. Ouch.

i am glad that my boss does not send out press releases when he thinks i am not doing very well at work. that would be embarrassing.
