Bostonist knows that film fans fall into two categories when it comes to space movies: Star Wars and Star Trek. Well, Bostonist has always loved the Star Wars movies and even managed to watch the lagging Episode I (and II for that matter); The last installment, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, opens nationally on May 17, but if you have the cash, you can see it this Thursday night at Loews Boston Common Theater. Lucusfilms selected 10 cities' local charities to host a premiere of the newest flick and Boston's own City Year won the honors this year. (For those of you not familiar with City Year and their red jackets throughout the city, the organization focuses on youth service corps for those 17-24 years old.)
Being touted as a "once in a lifetime experience," this screening will not come cheap to all you Skywalker fans out there. For the lowest ticket price of $250, you can go to the premiere and sit in the "general seating." From there, ticket prices skyrocket up to $25,000, also known as the "Jedi Knight Package," complete with your own lightsaber. Okay, no saber included but you do get 12 tickets with all the bells and whistles, pre- and post-partying too.
Obviously the $250 ticket option is a stretch for Bostonist and friends, but we're sure some of you who have been pining for years over the whole "how did Darth Vader become a bad guy?" will get your answer one week before the rest of the galaxy on the 17th.
