Thanks Bangor

alitalia.jpgFor the second time in a week Bostonist looks north for flight status. No, the flight monitors haven't been rearranged at logan, they've just diverted the flights. Today Alitalia Flight 618 from Milan, Italy which was supposed to land at Boston’s Logan Airport instead made way for Bangor Maine. Last Thursday an Air France flight headed to the hub was also diverted to Bangor. Here at Bostonist we would like to take a minute and thank the brave people of Bangor, Maine, yes all 15 of you, for taking our terror suspects so bravely.

Both the Air France flight last week and the Alitalia flight today were diverted because a person with a name and birthdate matching someone on the no-fly list had boarded the international flight abroad heading to the US. US officials discovered the match while the flights were hopping the pond and diverted them. Today’s news, however, is a little distressing. The FBI stated after the plane had reached Boston that the person in question was on the no-fly list, but wasn’t even a suspected terrorist. Was Cat Stevens flying again?

Bangor has about 31,000 people, thank you very much! As for where I'm from ... closer to 15 ... :-)
