Red Sox : "Oy . . . That trip sucked."

home_sweet_home.jpgNo doubt glad to be back home, at least for a little while, the Red Sox licked their collective wounds and returned to Boston last night after a pretty abysmal performance by Grimace, errr ... David Wells, after his stint on the DL. Two innings, 7 runs? Sure, not a problem! Today armchair managers across New England put on their 20/20 "hindsight goggles" and wondered whether or not Boomer should have taken the mound in Pawtucket for one game to work out the kinks and make sure he's game-ready. Bostonist trusts Tito, and probably would have agreed with the decision to let the veteran decide how he felt. Sure it didn't work out, but ... hey! If a pitcher can't ask for a measly 14 runs in run-support then whatayagon' do?!

liljon.jpgBack in Boston this weekend, the Sox toe up against our natural interleague rival the Atlanta Braves for a short 3 game homestand.
Friday and Saturday night game time is 7:05, and Sunday's is at 2:05 in the afternoon. There's no word on whether Fenway will be handing out Crunk Juice or Lil' Jon CDs in celebration of our southern brethrens' visit.

With the Yankees deciding to finally show up this season, and coming up in our rear-view, these next 6 games against the Braves and Blue Jays (at Toronto) are big ones before a trip to Gotham next weekend. So go out and enjoy this weekend at the Fens because the dog days of summer, well, late spring are just about to hit.

  • Fret not - we'll be playing a bad National League team soon enough. the CUBS! Hey-ooohhhh!! *rim shot*

Seriously though - it does kind of stink that we don't have any real rivals - like the two NY teams, the 2 SF teams, etc. We get the Braves.

i don't like our interleague rivals. yeah the braves used to be from boston blah blah blah, but why couldn't we play a crappy team like the pirates? those baggy old timey uniforms they played in a couple years ago were awesome.
