Happy Memorial Day, everybody, and Bostonist hopes you celebrate it all proper-like, with hot dogs, not dogs, beer, and some radio blasting Amerie's "One Thing." Anyone read the recent Blender interview with the pretty little thrush? Apparently she was born in 1980 and went to Georgetown in 1996. So she's wicked smart, clearly. C'mon guys, Catherine Zeta-Jones can lie about her age better, yes?
Friday there's several awesome shows going on, it just depends on your flavor: Miss Fairchild brings the booty jams to P.A.'s Lounge along with friends-and-members-of-Big Digits Plunge Into Death, along with Chicago popists Princess. Expect to dance and be amazed--Miss Fairchild's Wrall Skillz has big red hair and Prince flavor. Damm!
The Middle East has a night of big big rock with Tristan Da Cunha, Night Rally, Ho-Ag, and Shore Leave. Bostonist has seen Shore Leave a ton of times thanks to an ex-thing, and every time Shore Leave has been fabulous, which is a big compliment. Bostonist's love of Night Rally has also been well documented, too. Then, if you're not ready to finish the night at the New York Times feted The Pill to see Protokoll, there's also the sweet sweet noise rock of Neptune, Gang Gang Dance, and others at the Cambridge YWCA. That show starts at 7 and if you're 17, you can go!
So that was fairly exhausting, but here's a nice option for Saturday. The Plan at Great Scott! You see those attractive lads in the photo? That would be Providence's finest, Get Him Eat Him. Get Him Eat Him consist of Brown students and are fronted by Pitchfork writer Matt Lemay, in the fine tradition of bands like Yo La Tengo and Okkervil River, who also include rock critics. (Fellow Brown bands, on the other hand, Lisa Loeb? Jon Spencer?) The new cd hit Bostonist's hands yesterday and it's good. They'll make you not not nervous while sharing the stage with Seattle bands Dolour and The Catch, and hottie djs Bethany and Victoria will play jams in between. Oh man!
And finally, on Sunday, there is The Friends Of Lady K Benefit at Great Scott with USAISAMONSTER. So go out and have fun!

Those Get Him Eat Him boys are the most adorable things ever. And they can rock.
no, cap'n. you can rock.
