In a single night the Patriots worked with more ice than the Bruins could in an entire season. Last night the team showed up at Bob Kraft's home in Brookline to collect this past season's Superbowl Champion jewelry. A majority of the team showed up in style to collect the rings, even minicamp holdout Richard Seymour, Tom Brady (with another nice little gem by his side), and the heart and soul of the Pats, team leader Tedi Bruschi. Seymour briefly spoke to the media about this current situation and mentioned that many things that have been said, unless it comes from him, is pure conjecture - "I'm speaking from the horse's mouth. So reports -- I've heard a lot of reports about I've said this, that, and the other -- but you're hearing it live here, right now: I've never said anything about anything, and that's the way I remain." It's all about the Benjamins at this point - Seymour has 2 years remaining on a 6-year contract that he signed before his rookie year. Currently he's making much less than other superstar defensive ends across the league. Bruschi didn't give any indication that he would be back for next season, citing that he and his family are more concerned with making sure his health is ok and that the Patriots have asked for no time-table with regards to when, if, he comes back.
For those wondering about the hardware presented last night:
The third-edition rings are adorned with 124 diamonds and weigh 4.06 ounces. They are the largest NFL championship rings ever issued. A total of 21 diamonds surround the Patriots logo, a symbol of the team's NFL-record 21-game winning streak which ended last season. Replicas of the Pats' three Lombardi Trophies from 2001, '03 and '04 crown the Flying Elvis along with the final score of this year's Super Bowl.
Therefore, if you see any giant, stacked gentleman walking around Boston with what looks like a chandelier jutting out from their fingers, it's a safe bet that they play for the Patriots.
