Get your thinking caps on. Boston’s got a brand new sandwich. Well, not yet. Boston.com is running a feature that you might actually be able to sink your teeth into. Of course we’re all familiar with the phenomenon of the deli sandwich named after a celebrity, today you can have your own. Post your ideas up on their food board. The Big A Deli in Brighton will begin serving up the winning concoction when a winner emerges from the top five entries. We haven’t heard about any plans for sandwich trials, though we may just conduct them at home. The few entries already on the board range from appetizing to boring. A The Papi Panini with signature mango salsa sounds like a winner.
Bostonist’s entry:
1) Pick a local celebrity: Ted Kennedy
2) Create a name for the sandwich: The Kennedy Compote Compound
3) Include all the fixings, from bread to special sauce: A double decker of ham and durrus irish cheese, turkey and Chappaquiddick (secret recipe) cranberry compote on your choice of potato bread or sweet brown bread.
We’re thinking thanksgiving tradition with some ham for political good measure.
