Agreed. The last thing Boston needs is another place for the upper middle class and above. Maybe the focus should be on making decent affordable housing in East Boston.

yeah, that globe piece seemed a little strange to me, too. as if pushcarts were bad things. i always thought the problem with downtown crossing was that it's completely empty after like 6 or 7 o'clock. the fact that it's bustling and crazy during the day suggests that it's actually alive. apparently the globe writer would rather hang out in the mall or something. the way the city messes up public spaces (see the city hall monstrosity), i'm not sure i trust them to improve downtown crossing anyway.
