While You Were Sleeping: Potential Terror Lands

United777.jpgBack in May, Bostonist was thanking our lucky Bangors for taking the second diverted flight in a week due to possible terror threats. Today we expect thanks from Londonist for taking a diversion here in the Hub. United Flight 934 descended into Logan around 3 a.m. as it was heading from Los Angeles to London. We don’t actually expect thanks, we were just a tarmac for the plane to land on before it was cleared to continue on its route with all passengers on board. The reason it was grounded was due to three suspicious Pakistani men who were 'making passengers nervous.' The flight crew perhaps forgot to remind people to stay seated with their seatbelts fastened during the flight. Or perhaps it was a case of the racial profiling that has become the unspoken method of identification of terror suspects, what with news coming out of London that those sought as suspects in the recent bombings were of Pakistani decent (remember, though, that they were full-fledged Brits). The AP reports that the FBI "interviewed" the three men and released them with an all-clear. Bostonist isn’t really sure how they distinguish and FBI "interview" from an "interrogation" but we are glad to hear that all 266 passengers are going to make it to their destination, albeit a little quicker than some might make it from Boston to NYC if they’re in a wheelchair.
