Bostonist has seen the ads up all over town: The little creepy barcode with an eye between the lines. Yeah, those. The idea is pretty simple, flash mobbing applied to commerce. Stemming from the performance art, community activism or whatever you choose to call it that became a fad in 2003 called a Flash Mob. Ford has booked a secret concert series in 10 cities this summer. If you sign up as an insider they’ll even tell you where it is. Signing up is billed it as everyone is a winner, if you sign up they’ll give you some urban activity in the form of free entertainment, though they are giving away the Urban Activity Vecicle, Ford Fusion too.
Unfortunately for their marketing department; with the power of the internet there isn’t too much that really can stay a secret for all too long. In fact, with a little help from Google we’ve learned that Stained will be playing a free show in Boston, August 9, 2005. The 'where' and at 'what time' are still a bit of a mystery, but it couldn’t be that hard to figure out (you could just sign up). We know that we were supposed to keep this all a secret but Bostonist totally blames Stained for spilling the beans.
