Bill and His Broken Flowers

So Bill Murray is no Bostonian, but he is one of Bostonist's favorite people. Perhaps it's his midwestern comedic sense or his part-ownership of the local Brockton Rox baseball team, but Murray is one of the few actors/comedians that is worth staying up to watch on Letterman. On last week's appearance, Murray was completely smitten over his new girlfriend, Katie Holmes; Letterman unfortunately had to break the news about Tom Cruise. Murray has a new film coming out Friday entitled, Broken Flowers, by Jim Jarmusch, director of the 2004 film, "Coffee and Cigarettes." The movie, which won the Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival this year, is being touted as a romantic comedy with Murray starring as Don Johnson, a quiet, middle-aged man, who gets an anonymous letter from a woman claiming to have had his 19-year-old son. Off he goes on an adventure to see all his old flames (Sharon Stone, Chloe Sevigny, and Jessica Lange to name a few) to solve this mystery. Bostonist is guessing that he finds his son at the end, but we'll be catching the flick this weekend anyways. It opens Friday nationwide in limited release but luckily, it's showing at the Coolidge Corner Theater.

i can't wait to see this, either. bill murray is probably the only comedian that i don't mind doing more non-comedic roles. i think it was a good choice for him, unlike tom hanks who should have stuck with the nyucks.

So, is Don Johnson going to get to play Bill Murray?
