Bostonist just dipped over to the Orpheum to score face value tickets for the Doves show on September 12th at Avalon. The Boston show is the opener of the Doves month long North American tour. The Manchester trio released its latest album "Some Cities" in the spring, after a three year hiatus since the release of the critically acclaimed "Last Broadcast." Kids in Australia go wild for Doves.

Did I miss something on their website, when are the Go! Team coming to Boston?
when m.i.a. played here a couple months ago, she was just outrageously good. the other bands are also awesome, except for turbonegro, which used to be funny but is now kind of gimmicky crap. it's like a bunch of punks who used to be clever decided to become frat boys without even any good jokes. they're like a novelty band for the burgeoning punk/frat scene.

I saw The Go! Team at South By Southwest this year. I had never heard them before (they played before my fave Dogs Die In Hot Cars). The so-called audience was 50% record industry weasels who were blubbering over The Go! Team like they were crack-covered donuts. I found the band to be all flash, no substance: A couple of teenage drummers, an incredibly smug bass player, and a lead rapper who failed the Spice Girls audidtion for lack of talent.
