Another Homeless Beating

sparechange_logo.gifNot too long ago, Bostonist briefly and wrongly pointed a finger in accusation at Dennis “Stomper” Connolly in the death of a homeless man in mid-August. Today another beating, which resulted in death, has led to the arrest of a 17-year-old. Thomas Grealish, the teen, allegedly severely beat Mario Acosta, 40 and homeless, nearly to death. The injuries ultimately caused Acosta's death, and Grealish was arrested and charged with the assault. Suffolk County District Attourney is waiting for more details to come from the investigation before charging with murder.

The Boston Herald ran the Grealish story noting that this was not the first beating of a homeless person in recent months. They had tried to draw a line between the Stomper and the August 13 beating/murder of Steven Neiber. The connection wasn’t made in the Boston Globe’s report of the incident. With Boston’s Spare Change News under new editorial direction, readers are waiting to see the report that effects their community. Paul Rice was recently installed as managing editor of the Spare Change News after proving himself during the publication of the first-ever special edition of the paper. The special edition was created in order to help clear up some misconceptions sparked by initial reports of the August 13th event.
