After Boston was recently ranked11th for Fittest City in their spring issue, Men's Fitness Magazine has just released the top 20 Fittest (and Fattest) colleges and universities. With Boston already being a very healthy place (if you discount all the Dunkin Donuts in town), two local universities were listed in the fittest higher institutions of learning. Boston University came in third place, with Boston College taking the eleventh spot on the list.
Men's Fitness worked together with the Princeton Review and surveyed over 10,000 college students to see how many of them gained (or lost...wait, people lose weight in college?) weight, how often they work out, what are the school gyms like, does the school care about their health, etc. Well, while Bostonist's alma mater flooded our dorms with ice cream socials and late night pizza menus, we guess some administrations actually care about the fitness of their student body. Boston University, who opened their state of the art John Hancock Student Village, complete with fitness center and the Agannis Arena this past year, and Boston College, who cares about all their students, not just their ACC athletes, must be doing something right to get those rankings. Who held the top spot, you ask? Why Brigham Young University of course. Those mormons love to hit the gym!
