Raise a Pink Spoon to Baskin-Robbins

photo_icecream.jpgFirst it was America’s favorite frozen soda concoction, the Slurpee, who celebrated its 40th birthday with free samples. Well, the first ice cream franchise in America, Baskin Robbins, is turning 60 this year and to celebrate its big birthday, they are offering folks a special deal every Tuesday (starting tonight) from 6-10p.m. You can pick whichever of the featured 31 flavors your heart desires and get a nice 4 oz. scoop (cone or cup…you decide) for only a dollar.

The special Tuesday night deal goes through the month of October, so if you don’t make it there tonight before the season finale of Rescue Me, a Bostonist favorite, don’t fret. You have a month and half to decide whether you want a scoop of Peanut Butter and Chocolate or Pralines and Cream. If you go to their website, you can also vote for the world’s favorite ice cream flavor. (Right now, Boston Cream Pie is in the lead with 14% of the votes; mint chocolate chip is closing in at 11%.) Bostonist also just signed up for their non-exclusive Birthday Club, which gets you a free birthday cone on your big day; Baskin Robbins decided to stop limiting the club to those under 12 and of course Bostonist joined. It's free ice cream, people!
