This weekend The Baxter drops into theaters in Boston. It's one of those "now in select cities" things, and we're up. Bostonist has seen the trailers all over the place and we're actually looking forward to this movie. A comedy for anyone who's ever been dumped? check. It's from the folks at IFC and The Onion to boot. It stars Michael Showalter (Stella) and co-stars Paul Rudd (The 40-Year Old Virgin) and Michael Ian Black (Stella, Ed). Catch interviews of Michael Showalter and Michael Ian Black on Chicagoist and Gothamist. And if you are curious if you might be a Baxter just take the quiz
The Baxer is the story of Elliot Sherman, the kind of guy who’s more often the dumpee, not the dumper. Practically an archetype in rom-coms, he’s The Other Guy who gets left at the altar while the ingénue runs off with the handsome gent from her past. But there has to be a woman for him out there somewhere, right? The movie hits theaters this Friday, September 16th. You can watch the trailer here or check out some bloopers.
Bostonist is giving awayprize packs the lucky winners. Each winner will receive a Baxter t-shirt and a Baxter soundtrack, featuring Rufus Wainwright, Amy Miles, Craig Wedren and other sensitive and introspective folks. Contest ends Wednesday, Sept. 21. While you will be able to go see the movie and decide if you like the soundtrack and want a t-shirt, really, why wait? Winners will be notified via e-mail. Sign up to your chance to win after the jump.
Update: Bostonist totally forgot to congratulate Aaron H. for winning the first BPP (that's Baxter Prize Pack) at Bostonist's Happy Hour Wednesday. We had a grand ol' time and hope you did too.

I can't believe it, my co-worker just bought a car for $13464. Isn't that crazy!
