You Don't Look a Day Over 370

cake.jpgFrom watching movies and sit-coms, Bostonist knows that even good-hearted people sometimes forget to mark the birthdays of their loved ones. Because we are and incredibly devoted son/husband/friend, this has never happened to us, but we bet it's not fun - nobody likes being in the doghouse. That's why, dear reader, we want to remind you about the upcoming birthday of someone we know you adore, the City of Boston. Yes, tomorrow marks the 375th anniversary of the fateful day in 1630 when English settlers dubbed their little spot on the Shawmut peninsula after Boston, England. For reasons unknown to us, the grand finale parade and concert for the city's official, multi-day celebration will be held next weekend, but tomorrow would be a fitting time to spend the day appreciating this fine town of ours. Unfortunately, the presence of Tropical Pain in the Ass Ophelia means it will be a rainy birthday for the Hub. Luckily, though, lots of local museums are offering free or discount admission for the occasion, and South End artists are holding open studios on Saturday and Sunday.
