Boston Stand Up

HT2.jpg It's HT, kid!

If you're going to be near Fenway this week for the beginning of this year's fever pitch, be sure to grab a copy of the Boston Fire Mixtape CD by the Head Turners from one of the Sully's Tees hawkers. The Mixtape has been generating buzz in the streets with over 30,000 copies (100k eventually) being circulated for free. Guest appearances by Sean Price (Heltah Skeltah), Mike Mongo (18-year-old rap phenom from Roxbury), Grimey Bruce, Mr. Burns, and Camppain Militia.

The Head Turners are one of Boston's most promising rap duos, featuring Black Elemental on the mic and Max Powers on the beats. Upon hearing the Mixtape, Bostonist couldn't believe two kids barely old enough to drink could release an album that sounded so new and professional. The production skills of Max Powers (ed. note: his real name) are phenomenal: all the tracks are solid and stylistically varied. Providing the fire is Black El, really making this Mixtape a must have. Black El's flow is outrageous (he raps as fast as Twista on the Slow Jams beat) and totally original (no Young Jeezy clone here).

HT toured parts of the mid-west this summer and will be swinging through California this winter.
