Are you from Boston or just the surrounding area? The CommonCensus shows how people view their local area in contrast to the official state boundaries and according to the map the surrounding area of Boston might be a bit larger then you think. Look at what a large area of people consider Boston as 'The City'! We are totally bigger then NY in pure influence. Take that Gothamist! We are dwarfed by cities out west such as Boise, Salt Lake City, and Denver, but they are all far away so lets just point and laugh at New York. Haha!
The CommonCensus Map Project is only getting started with this map only representing 8,000 votes. The next update is only around the corner at 16,000 votes when the maps will be redrawn to reflect the new information. The survey currently covers cities, local communities and even sports teams. Only a few maps are up now, but as more people take the survey they will post additional maps. This is your call to action! Go and represent Boston in the CommonCensus. The survey is short and the results bring an amazing new perspective of the country.

There are roughly as many people in the entire state of Vermont as there are in Harlem.
:P
this just further proves that Bostonians have an inferiority complex when it comes to New York City. I haven't met one without it.
I am a New Yorker but I once made the mistake of living in Boston for 2 years. I did not meet one person who wasn't jealous that I had lived in NY, and when I decided to move back there, jealous that I would be living there again. There's no mysterious force field around NY, if you want to live there so bad, up and move there... Most Bostonians couldn't hack it though.
