There's nothing Bostonist likes to do more during a wicked raging Nor'easter than hunker down cozily indoors, make a pot of Sjömansbiffgryta, and catch up on Best Week Ever re-runs.
When the hibernation urge hits, Bostonist heads to Johnnie's Foodmaster on Beacon Street in Somerville for supplies. Although we have no inkling of the identity of this mysteriously possessive "Johnnie" in the title, we do know that the store is completely carpeted, has an old school butcher on staff, and did we mention that the chain (with stores in Arlington and Charlestown also) stocks the hooch? That's right, a true one-stop-shop, "Johnnie's" carries beer and wine. Perfect for those times when runs to both the grocery and liquor stores just aren't copacetic.
Besides gaining serious Somerville street cred, a trip to The Foodmaster promises a delightful stroll down the musical memory lane of the 1980s: during Bostonist's last three trips, our cart-pushing soundtrack included such "oldies but goodies" as "My Prerogative" (Bobby Brown), "Pour Some Sugar on Me" (Def Leppard), and "Take On Me" (A-Ha).
