STEL-LA!

Tomorrow morning at 10 am, there's gonna be a "Designer Named Desire" in Boston, as Stella McCartney's line of ready-to-wear apparel hits selected H&M stores nationwide. Luckily, one such location is right here at the Washington Street store in Downtown Crossing.
Besides being second only in notoriety to her dad Paul, McCartney succeeded Karl Lagerfeld (who also had an exclusive line with H&M last year, coincidentally) as chief designer at couture house Chloe. She started her own line in conjuction with the House of Gucci in 2001.
Now daring Boston fashionistas can shed their worn out (in so many senses of the word) Uggs and pink Red Sox caps in favor of slouchy tops, prim evening dresses, and classic-yet-sexy intimate sets. Not to mention the one women's clothing item that Bostonist knows works so well universally on all sizes – the skinny jeans. Or maybe that's just in Stella's circle? Regardless, all of the pieces are in great neutral colors that would easily mix with a girl's non-designer staples.
Bostonist is always excited to see modern and moderately-priced city chic clothing make an appearance in our khaki-loving city, and the McCartney/H&M collaboration is especially interesting because of the method used to compile the 40+ pieces: each was culled from favorites from the designer's past collections. So grab some "Stella" while it lasts. . . but remember to beware the skinny pants; we really think they might be the low riders of 2005 = wear with caution, ladies!

i have been anticipating this for a bit now - boston could use a bit of stella mccartney style infusion right about now .... if i see one more grown woman with a thick satin ribbon around her pony tail i may just need to relocate....
