You may recall Bostonist wondering, not long ago, who was responsible for the fliers around town warning us about a social worker named Mary Mitchell-Nixon ("abuser of people with AIDS," the fliers said). Well, alert Bostonist reader Dan Roche brought to our attention the recent appearance of new, more detailed fliers, explaining more about the nature of one man's serious grudge. (The text and a picture of the new fliers are reproduced after the jump, with a reminder from the Bostonist legal department that we make no representation as to the veracity of any of the claims therein.)
The new flier, a hand-written affair photocopied on characteristic bright yellow paper, is signed by one Lester Blake, and he directs his ire not just toward Ms. Mitchell-Nixon, but at social services company Vinfen, one Dr. Maureen Malin, the state Board of Social Workers, and, for good measure, the Department of Public Health. Although it is more than a bit rambling, Bostonist recommends it - it may contain unfounded allegations, but it has some nice turns of phrase, combined with an interesting use of the question mark as a mid-sentence, emotive modifier: "Rather than doing bad things to people who don't deserve it ? try doing good things to people who never saw it coming."
Being a humble pseudo-journalist with a day job, Bostonist couldn't track down Ms. Mitchell-Nixon (no longer at Vinfen), Dr. Malin (ditto), or Mr. Blake himself, but we did speak to Christopher Smalley, the Director of Public Relations at Vinfen. Understandably, he was prevented by confidentiality rules from holding forth on Mr. Blake or the nature of his disputes with Vinfen et al., but he did tell us that Blake filed an official complaint against Vinfen and Mitchell-Nixon with the Board of Registration of Social Workers in late 2002, and provided us with a copy of the Board's terse rejection of that complaint in January 2003 ("There was no substantiation of a violation of the statutes or regulations."). Smalley also said that as a general matter (but not necessarily in the case of any of Vinfen's clients), it is not uncommon for people who may or may not take their anti-psychotic medications as prescribed to become unhappy with their treatment and care. The flier's references to "Section 12" suggest that one of Blake's main grievances is that he was involuntarily restrained and/or hospitalized under Mitchell-Nixon's orders at Vinfen. The Section 12 in this case is of Mass. General Laws Chapter 123 (which allows involuntary restraint and hospitalization in certain situations).
In trying to get to the bottom of all this, we conferred with Craig Nickels, a grad student at Emerson and who also works at Boston.com. Being an aspiring real-life journalist, Craig may soon have more and better details than Bostonist, so look for his byline for the full scoop.

Mary Mitchell-Nixon - A licensed Social Worker + shameless abuser of people withe AIDS and children. Creates fictional medical histories and uses her position to perform illegal Section 12's (involuntary committalls). Lies to doctors to facilliitate and then to the Board of Licensure for Social Workers to cover-up abuses. Abuses children to find out if they've been abused. Crushed the souls of an entire residence for people with AIDS for more than a year with no repercussions, especially targets people who can't defend themselves and/o those who won't be beleived. This woman has her feet off the pedals, look out!!!
Vinfen - The largest human services agency in the state including 3 residences for people with AIDS. Cold, indifferent bullies who facilitated an illegal Section 12, who covered up illegal secret questioning of a residents litte boy visiting from Florida and then shipped his mother off to a nursing home against her will. Checks and balances that are only concerned with paperwork and appearances. They chastize and threaten people who try to speak out and defend themselves. In a report to the Board of Social Workers in defense of Mary they lied over 70 times in 14 pages. (All things that were easily verified, if anyone had cared enough to look)
Dr. Maureen Malin - Ex-vinfen employee who performed the illegal committal. She took everything Mary fed her and passed this on to my doctor convincing him to go along with the Section 12 but neglected to mention that shed never even met or spoken to me. (I was released the same afternoon). But, I will die with a Section 12 in my medical record and my relationship with the best doctor I ever had is badly damaged.
Board of Social Workers - The state agency that closes complaints without investigation, refused to meet with me in person, and are cold omnipotent and asleep at the wheel, (and suckored by Mary). Even though I filed a complaint and then a follow-up complaint ? their website siys she never had a complaint filed against her + doesn't care that Vinfen lied their asses off.
Dept. of Public Health - The state agency that did a shoddy investigation, no protection, no assistance and had no response to Vinfen's calling us 'faggots niggers and people from those nasty countries' (Marys supervisor Michelle Howden) and lying about the nationalities of the program residents to the Board of Social Workers.
