Morning Stories is one of the oldest podcasts today and the first public radio podcast. With this show on the web not long after the term podcast was coined, Tony Kahn beat many people to publishing online. Morning Stories is a collection of weird, interesting, and engaging stories from people's lives. Tony Kahn bring these stories to an audience to help them see how other people live and to tell their life stories.
Tony Kahn has successfully avoided a cheesy "radio voice." Some of the stories can verge on being over-produced with all the sounds and music in the background, but the production never crosses the line and all the producing successfully enhances the stories being told. Often less then ten minutes long and only released once a week, Morning Stories is very easy to keep up with. Kahn's guests are both known and unknown, from Maya Angelou to The Lascivious Biddies, and he is able to get guests to open up well during the interviews.
The stories are great but are often told in a soothing voice that might not be conducive to waking up in the morning. For Bostonist, Morning STories might work better as a mid-afternoon pleasure, some time after lunch when we are more awake. Morning Stories brings in material from around the world and does not always have a chance to focus on our great city of Boston. Lack of local content notwithstanding, this is a podcast worth checking out. If you are upset that Morning Stories does not focus all its time on Boston send Tony your amazing stories and convince him to let you on.
