Muscle cars and toothbrushes have more in common then you might think. Both look fancy and both pollute the earth more then they need to. Composed of plastic, rubber, and other compounds, those fancy tooth brushes do not recycle well. Crest might tell you that all that rubber is there for your brushing safety, but when was the last time you really had a brushing accident for which rubber would have been the solution? Not to mention, all that rubber just doesn't jive with the toothbrush holder in Bostonist's bathroom, forcing us to balance the brush precariously on the edge of the sink.
Where is the Prius of the toothbush world, so Leonardo DiCaprio can brush his teeth with out destroying the earth? Recycline, located in Waltham, has stepped up, along with the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, to provide the envirodental solution of the future. Using recycled yogurt cups, Recycline has produced a tooth brush that is 100% recycled and makes mother earth smile. It also comes with an envelope for returning the brush at no cost to you. Its design is "old school," with nothing fancier than a comfortable curved handle. Each brush comes in only one color, just like when Bostonist was little (although the best brushes were always the ones with sparkles). (Recycline has yet to announce a sparkle tooth brush line, and Bostonist doubts sparkles recycle well.)
