Burritos-A-Go-Go
Because we love passing on the word about anything and everything that involves the word "free", Bostonist would like to inform you of some free burritos coming your way today. For those that don’t follow the going-ons of local eateries like Bostonist, you might not be aware that The Wrap restaurant chain, with all their sandwiches, burritos and smoothies, has gone through an identity crisis and has become “Boloco" (We heard this means "Boston Local Company"? Can any reader out there confirm?) with their new tagline" inspired burritos." To celebrate their new name and new logo, the stores will be giving away free burritos yesterday from 11am-4pm. Head to one of the three participating locations and grab a freebie, but lets not be greedy, kids. One per customer, puh-lease. If you can't make it today, don't fret. There are more free burrito days in the future. And according to this Globe article a few months ago, burrito places are invading Boston. And we thought the competition between the dueling relatives of Anna's and Boca Grande was bad.
Participating Boloco restaurants are the 133 Federal St., 125 Pearl St., or 82 Water St. locations.
UPDATE: Bostonist misread the Herald's listing and the free burritos were indeed yesterday. For those that went there and walked away empty handed, this Bostonist writer will buy you a drink at the next official Bostonist Happy Hour. Sincerest apologies.

Yes, it stands for Boston Local Company. Allow me to transcribe the note they handed out at the Northeastern University Boloco:
"After conducting extensive research we found that many people thought of wraps as cold, too eclectic and often filled with unfamiliar items like alfalfa sprouts. In a word - uninspiring. Since we serve hot, tasty ingredients from the grill, our customers told us that our wraps were actually inspired burritos. We latched onto that idea quickly, and later came up with the name Boloco.
Boloco stands for Boston Local Company. The name is a tribute to the city and its people, who gave us this concept real legs for the last nine years. Our customers inspired us to make this change.
John Peper, The Wrap co-founder"
Personally, I think it's ridiculous. "The Wrap" I could remember. "Boloco" sounds like an anti-constipation medicine.

Great. The more burritos, the better. Can't wait for Chipotle to get up here; I was about to move out of Boston to a city that has Chipotle.
We need a good burrito place in Watertown. Too many friggin pizza/sub/gyro shops...

I went to the Water Street location for lunch, but they didn't know anything about any free burrito offer today. They thought it might have been yesterday. What gives here?

Hey there,
Not sure how many of you actually read this, but since i saw it, thought you should hear it from the horse's mouth (ie. I'm The Wrap co-founder who is responsible for not only the identity crisis mentioned above, but also Free Burrito Days, The Jimmy Carter, and the beloved Buffalo Chicken :))
We had Free Burrito Days already in the Financial District (11/16) and on Mass Ave and Newbury Street (11/18).
BUT IT'S NOT OVER... Northeastern University is on Monday (11/21), Children's Hospital Tuesday (11/22), Cleveland Circle (11/29), Harvard Square (11/30). We hope to see ALL of you there! 11-7pm all of those stores...
Finally, it's too bad so many people are cynical. We're having a ton of fun making great burritos of all kinds for you guys, just as we have for 9 years. You may not like the name, but trust us when we tell you there were many good reasons to do such a nutty thing. In any event, we gave away nearly 7000 burritos last Wednesday and Friday... and it's a blast doing it.
So we hope to see you. and you can always e-mail us at buzz@boloco.com if you have any questions or comments.
